Make great music. Mentor, learn, and belong.
Swing for a Lifetime!
From lifelong jazz lovers to musicians rediscovering their instruments in retirement, the Big Band of Rossmoor celebrates the timeless joy of big band music. Here, neighbors become bandmates, rehearsal turns into camaraderie, and classic charts from the golden era of swing come alive in a room full of energy and heart.
No matter when you started playing — or picked it up again — there’s a place for you in the band. Come share in the rhythm, the teamwork, and the belief that music truly can stay with you for a lifetime.

Under the musical leadership of Co-Directors Greg Brown (left) and Mo Levich, the Big Band of Rossmoor reflects both seasoned artistry and deep community roots. Mo Levich, an accomplished trumpet player, has long been recognized throughout the Lamorinda area for his leadership, civic engagement, and unwavering support of the arts. As a Jefferson Award recipient for public service, he has demonstrated a sustained commitment to strengthening community life through volunteerism and music advocacy. Levich’s work in local business and chamber circles further underscores his belief that thriving communities are built through connection, service, and shared cultural experiences. In rehearsal and performance, he brings not only musicianship, but also enthusiasm, encouragement, and a strong belief that jazz is a living tradition meant to be shared across generations.
Greg Brown brings decades of distinguished experience in jazz education and conducting. A graduate of California State University, Hayward, Brown served more than 20 years as Instrumental Director and Performing Arts Chair at Northgate High School, where he built highly respected jazz programs and mentored countless young musicians. A longtime leader within the California Music Educators Association, he has been an active clinician, adjudicator, and guest conductor throughout Northern California and has collaborated with many notable jazz artists. The recipient of multiple statewide honors, including recognition for excellence in jazz education and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Mt. Diablo Unified School District, Brown has served as Co-Director and Educational Consultant for the Big Band of Rossmoor since 2014, guiding the ensemble with musical excellence, mentorship, and a passion for keeping the big band tradition vibrant and performance-ready.
