Generations in Jazz
From teenagers just discovering swing to seasoned musicians who have lived the Big Band era, our members span generations — and share one sound. In rehearsal and on stage, experience, mentorship, and joy come together to prove that music truly can be with you your entire life.
A Tradition of Swing
For decades, the Big Band of Rossmoor has carried forward the timeless sound of the swing era, bringing classic jazz standards and beloved charts to our community. From early rehearsals to packed performances, the band’s history is rooted in camaraderie, musicianship, and a shared love of big band music.
Our Mission
We exist to keep the music of the Big Band era alive — encouraging musicians of all ages to rehearse, perform, and grow together in a supportive team environment. With more than 60 charts performance-ready, we remain committed to excellence, joy, and the belief that music can enrich every stage of life.
Our Musicians
Today’s band brings together students, retirees, and lifelong performers — ages 13 to 86 — united by rhythm and community. Each rehearsal blends mentorship, friendship, and the unmistakable energy of a full big band in motion.
